RECLAIM NEW YORK INITIATIVE JOINS ASSEMBLYMEMBERS AND GOOD GOVERNMENT GROUPS TO VOICE SUPPORT FOR THE PROCUREMENT INTEGRITY ACT

Statement from Reclaim New York Initiative Executive Director Brandon Muir on the organizationโ€™s joint press conference with the Assembly Minority Conference:

โ€œToday Reclaim New York Initiative joined Assemblymembers and good government groups to call for an immediate vote on a bill that would restore transparency across our state.

โ€œFor too long, bad actors have bypassed oversight measures and abused loopholes in legislation to line their pockets with taxpayer dollars. This behavior must be stopped.

โ€œThe Procurement Integrity Act is a commonsense, bi-partisan bill that fights the corruption plaguing the Empire State. The State Senate passed the bill with nearly unanimous support from both sides of the aisle. Now, the State Assembly must follow suit.

โ€œThis bill will pass overwhelmingly if it is brought to the floor. But itโ€™s stuck in the Governmental Operations Committee. Fortunately, the committee is headed by Assemblymember Chrystal Peoples-Stokes, who is also the primary sponsor of the legislation.

โ€œLess than a week remains in this legislative session. Lawmakers must fight corruption by passing the Procurement Integrity Act now! New Yorkers simply canโ€™t afford another corruption-laden gut punch.โ€
