Statement from Reclaim New York Initiative Executive Director Brandon Muir on the organizationโs joint press conference with the Assembly Minority Conference:
โToday Reclaim New York Initiative joined Assemblymembers and good government groups to call for an immediate vote on a bill that would restore transparency across our state.
โFor too long, bad actors have bypassed oversight measures and abused loopholes in legislation to line their pockets with taxpayer dollars. This behavior must be stopped.
โThe Procurement Integrity Act is a commonsense, bi-partisan bill that fights the corruption plaguing the Empire State. The State Senate passed the bill with nearly unanimous support from both sides of the aisle. Now, the State Assembly must follow suit.
โThis bill will pass overwhelmingly if it is brought to the floor. But itโs stuck in the Governmental Operations Committee. Fortunately, the committee is headed by Assemblymember Chrystal Peoples-Stokes, who is also the primary sponsor of the legislation.
โLess than a week remains in this legislative session. Lawmakers must fight corruption by passing the Procurement Integrity Act now! New Yorkers simply canโt afford another corruption-laden gut punch.โ
