Hoehmtown Happenings: Meet Me on Main

Did you know the Town of Clarkstown has its very own cable access channel? Since becoming Supervisor I have been working on creating content for the channel to keep residents informed. It has become a vital tool in how we reach residents and businesses in addition to our social media, newsletters, websites, tele town halls and more. One of our most successful programs
on the channel to date has been “Meet Me on Main”.

The creation of the show “Meet Me on Main” was part of the Town's efforts to help promote and highlight some of Clarkstown’s restaurants amid the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic we worked with local Chambers of Commerce and businesses in Clarkstown to boost the morale and bottom line of restaurants, including the Town granting temporary outdoor dining permits. At a time when many were not ready to eat indoors, we gave restaurants the
opportunity to have outdoor dining.

Each episode of "Meet Me on Main" features three restaurants with me interviewing the owners to learn about its history, special dishes, and more. I have really enjoyed getting to know each
of these entrepreneurs. I’m hoping that you’ll take a moment to look over the episode descriptions below, view them on the Town’s YouTube page and eventually find your way to
those establishments that peak your gourmet interests. Our first episode featured Lulu’s Cafe in West Nyack, which has a hometown diner feel and was featured on the ABC show “What would you do?”; Rick’s Club American, a staple in the hamlet of Congers under new ownership, and the popular Irish Pub River Court on Main, in New City.

● Episode 2 features the historic 1840 Tavern in West Nyack and Sangria's Mexican
cuisine located in both Congers and Nanuet.

● Episode 3 features Kobe Sushi and Lounge in New City, Banchetto Feast, a longtime
favorite in Nanuet, and Station Kitchen in Congers, which specializes in classic
American dishes.

● Episode 4 features Craft Taqueria in New City, a newer cafe offering specialty tacos;
Sushi and Hibachi restaurant Cho Cho San in Nanuet; as well as Norcina in New City
which has become very popular for their homemade pasta and pizzas.

● Episode 5 features Grub in West Nyack with friendly and casual Asian fusion with a Thai
twist; Dee Maria's pizza in Valley Cottage; and Sazone in New City offering Latin and
American fusion.

● Episode 6 features Nanuet Restaurant, Gio's Bar and Grill in New City, and Bolzano
Family Restaurant in Congers.
The show can be viewed on the Town’s YouTube channel and government access channel 78 (Cable/Altice) and 35 (Verizon) Fridays 6pm and Wednesdays at 6:30pm. I encourage you to tune in and learn about these amazing restaurants in Clarkstown. I hope you will join me in continuing to support our local restaurants. If you have a favorite restaurant you would like to suggest we visit and feature on an upcoming show please email me at [email protected].
