Bomb threat called into New City Elementary

On Thursday, December 15, a phone called was received by New City Elementaryย School staff, in which an unidentified individual stated there was a bomb in the school. Theย phone call abruptly ended and the Clarkstown Police Department was notified.
As the initial responding officers arrived on scene they observed students already beingย evacuated from the building and placed onto school buses in order to be safely moved fromย the area. Officers began establishing a perimeter and notifications were made to severalย surrounding agencies, requesting the use of their K9 officers due to the size of the building.ย Officers from Ramapo PD, RC Sherriffs and the NYSP joined our K9โ€™s in a search of theย school and the surrounding grounds. Additionally an exterior search of the school wasย conducted by our UAV (drone) Unit and uniformed personnel.

After a comprehensiveย search of the New City Elementary School it was determined that no devices wereย located in the school or the campus. The Clarkstown Police Departmentย is activelyย investigating the origin of the threat. Anyone possessingย information regarding this incident, is asked to please contact the Clarkstown Detectiveย Bureau at (845)639-5840.
