We may be a little over a month into the summer season, but it’s never too late to revitalize your hair with a new style.ย
Valeria Maddalena, a senior stylist at JLK Salon in New City of over nine years, shared with The Rockland County Times some of her favorite hair colors and care tips to keep in mind.
โA lot of my clients have been getting like ashy blonde, which are like nice bright fun blondes for the summer,โ she said.ย
Maddalena said that clients tend to go with more natural looks, including coppery tones.
Not certain which color to commit to just yet?
Maddalena also touched on some effortless hairstyles that anybody can do.
โMy favorites this summer are like a slit back high pony or bun. I have super long hair, so itโs great for anybody that wants something easy to do that requires a few amount of products,โ she said. โMy other go to is a beachy wave.โ
For those with short hair, she recommends doing it half up and half down.ย
โWhat I’ve seen other young women or young girls do is just pin one to the side,โ she said. โYou can also do a loose long curl, which will help give you a little more oomph and a little more volume or texture to the hair.โ
Maddalena strongly advises to use heat protectant when using heat styling tools.
ย She also recommends using conditioner before going into a swimming pool or the beach to keep the longevity of the color and to investย in high-quality shampoos, conditioners, and other hair care products.
โWe have a wide range of products. Personally, especially for the summer time, I love the Botanical repair line because it really helps keep the moisture in your hair, especially if youโre blonde or if your hair is on the dryer side, it helps keep your hair looking nice and fresh.โ
