Dude, where is the car?

After a week of searching, Piermont police are unable to locate the driver of a vehicle that mysteriously plunged into the Hudson River.

Police in the Village of Piermont are stumped as to why a vehicle was driven to a pier at the Hudson River before plunging into the water.

At around 2 p.m. on Wednesday January 17, police responded to Ferry Road for a report of damage to the dock on the pier. When officers arrived on the scene they observed vehicle tire marks in the snow that traveled to the end of the dock. Officers began investigating further and located vehicle parts near the damaged area of the dock.

Surveillance video footage was obtained that showed a vehicle entering the docking area of the pier and the driver getting out before the vehicle drove off the end of the dock into the Hudson River. Though authorities have located the vehicle and plan to dredge it out this weekend, the driver remains unidentified The Piermont Police detective division is investigating with the assistance of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Piermont Police Detective Unit at 845-359-0240.
