Queen’s Jewelry was founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic by owner, Reina Castillo, when she was 23 years old. Queens Jewelry offers affordable fine and minimalist jewelry, specializing in handcrafted, custom-designed pieces, the brand makes elegance accessible to all. The collection includes options for sensitive skin such as 925 silver, 14k gold-filled, and 18k gold-plated over stainless steel, all ethically sourced, hypoallergenic, and resistant to tarnish and water, meeting and exceeding industry standards.

Castillo is a first-generation business owner based in Rockland County. She discovered her passion for jewelry making in her childhood while living in the Dominican Republic when she was three years old. “There are little red flowers that you can make necklaces, earrings, and bracelets with, and it would connect with the stem,” she recalls. Castillo’s entrepreneurial spirit was shaped by her varied interests and experiences.

One year after her business began to develop, Castillo then launched her online website in May 2021. Now at 27, she envisions continuously expanding her business, with plans to open her own shop and reinvest in a mental health center, inspired by her background in behavioral health advocacy and her own recovery journey. She reflects on the very beginning stages of her healing journey, and how it’s impacted her passion with letting others know that they aren’t alone in their journeys. “I like to make people feel great and support them. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing; I’m here to support you,” says Castillo.

Reina’s resilience is rooted in overcoming significant life challenges. At 15, she survived a near-death experience and a week-long coma in the ICU. During her time at the hospital, Reina had a dream about her uncle Jose, who passed away in 2006. In the dream, Castillo’s uncle held her hand and told her to tell her mom, “You will be okay,”. After she woke up from the dream, she immediately took off her breathing mask in the room and told her mom about it. Her uncle’s reassurance helped her through this ordeal, transforming her outlook on life. “That experience changed me, and I woke up as a different person,” Reina reflects.

Today, Castillo finds joy in creating jewelry that helps her customers embrace and love themselves. Designing meaningful pieces, like her Sailor Moon necklace collection, has been therapeutic, allowing her to heal her inner child. “Seeing the impact my jewelry has on customers is deeply fulfilling,” she shares.

Looking ahead, Castillo hopes to collaborate with Los Angeles-based jewelry designer Janeice Blanchet, whose cinematic video ad campaigns inspire her. “I enjoy working behind the scenes and overseeing the small details. Watching her makes me feel like I have no limitations and fit in no box,” Castillo explains. Queen’s Jewelry has already participated in two fashion shows, marking its growing influence.

Reina Castillo aspires to inspire her customers to feel beautiful and confident, regardless of the obstacles they may face in their lives. The mission of Queen’s Jewelry is to positively impact communities and the environment while offering jewelry that allows for personal expression. Castillo aims to help people find their inner selves through her designs, emphasizing unique, expressive pieces. Castillo believes true queens uplift and support one another, and she strives for her jewelry to reflect this ethos.
