Rockland County Legislator Will Kennelly has filed a lawsuit in Rockland County Supreme Court against Lawrence Garveyโs law firm alleging negligence and breach of fiduciary duty. Garvey is the Chairman of the Rockland County Republican committee.
The is a result of Garveyโs handling of Kennellyโs interest in the former Kennellyโs Grille House. Kennelly, a retired New York Police Department (NYPD) detective, owned and operated Kennellyโs Grille House in Congers for 25 years.
The complaint, filed earlier this week, alleges, among other things, that a $50,000 previously undisclosed brokerโs fee was charged at the closing of Kennellyโs agreement with Garvey. The suit alleges that more than two years since the closing, Garvey has not provided Kennelly with a closing statement from the transaction and has not returned several of his phone calls.
Kennelly suit seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, pre-and post-judgment interest, and costs, including attorneyโs fees. Garvey is the founder of Lawrence A. Garvey and Associates, P.C. in White Plains. The firmโs website describes itself as a multidisciplinary finance, business, and criminal law firm seeking to provide clients with informative, competent, and goal-driven representation.
