Rockland County Legislator Will Kennelly sues GOP Chair Garvey for breach of contract

Rockland County Legislator Will Kennelly has filed a lawsuit in Rockland County Supreme Court against Lawrence Garveyโ€™s law firm alleging negligence and breach of fiduciary duty. Garvey is the Chairman of the Rockland County Republican committee.

The is a result of Garveyโ€™s handling of Kennellyโ€™s interest in the former Kennellyโ€™s Grille House. Kennelly, a retired New York Police Department (NYPD) detective, owned and operated Kennellyโ€™s Grille House in Congers for 25 years.

The complaint, filed earlier this week, alleges, among other things, that a $50,000 previously undisclosed brokerโ€™s fee was charged at the closing of Kennellyโ€™s agreement with Garvey. The suit alleges that more than two years since the closing, Garvey has not provided Kennelly with a closing statement from the transaction and has not returned several of his phone calls.

Kennelly suit seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, pre-and post-judgment interest, and costs, including attorneyโ€™s fees. Garvey is the founder of Lawrence A. Garvey and Associates, P.C. in White Plains. The firmโ€™s website describes itself as a multidisciplinary finance, business, and criminal law firm seeking to provide clients with informative, competent, and goal-driven representation.
