Rockland BOCES secures grant for apprenticeship programs

Rockland County BOCES has been granted $195,000 from the State Labor Department that will allow 30 students to enter the State Registered Apprenticeship programs.

The programs are geared toward underrepresented populations including women, minorities, individuals with disabilities and veterans.

They focus on individuals seeking workforce development allowing them to enter the construction and electrical career fields.

โ€œSkilled tradesmen earn excellent salaries and benefits and this critical funding for the registered apprenticeship program provides a great opportunity for underrepresented Rockland County residents interested in bettering their lives by working in the construction and electrical trades,โ€ said State Senator Bill Weber (R, Nanuet).

The program will be offered as a Rockland BOCES adult education course at no cost to participants.
