Take a Trip Around the World Without Ever Leaving Sparkill

When customers walk into Noble Essence Market, they are transported to a global bazaar. Turkish tea sets line the walls, and in every glass jar stands a new spice or tea or coffee from a far flung location. Matcha from Japan, green mint tea from Afghanistan, black pepper from Vietnam, Egyptian cane sugar – there is truly no shortage of cuisine to experience. Gina Sarwari, the owner of Noble Essence Market, opened the shop with a dream to โ€œ…[bring] cultures togetherโ€.ย

Across the street from Noble Essence Market, customers can find Noble Cafe. The cafe was Sarwariโ€™s first business venture in Sparkill after much encouragement from clients in her real estate business. Noble Cafe serves up pastries, sandwiches, coffee and tea, but also items infused with a Turkish and Persian twist. During the pandemic, one of Sarwariโ€™s loyal customers at Noble Cafe approached her with a question – could she make them a gift basket for the holidays? One basket turned into three baskets which turned into 276 baskets. These baskets reflected not only Sarwariโ€™s Turkish and Persian cultures, but held the genesis of Sarwariโ€™s dream to craft a melting pot of cultures.ย

Where to begin with such a diverse array of products? Sarwari suggests the teas. She shares โ€œ…in our culture it brings people together. It makes their dayโ€. With over 30 variations of teas and new teas being crafted every week, shoppers have their pick. Those still unconvinced are heavily encouraged to sample the wares. Sarwari stated that she advocates for customers to try before they buy, even encouraging them to wait a few days to see if they truly like it. When they come back she shares that she โ€œ…gets so happy sellingโ€ฆbecause I know they love it and I know theyโ€™re going to enjoy it!โ€.ย

Going forward, Sarwari states that she plans to implement seating at the market to encourage her visitors to slow down and enjoy themselves. Sarwari also wants to use her business to uplift other women-owned business ventures. She added that she โ€œ…(wants) as a woman to inspire other womenโ€ฆ(women) can do so much and be a part of the community and do something good for everybodyโ€. Sarwari currently displays hand-crafted candles created by a local woman as part of her efforts, with plans to incorporate even more women-run businesses in the near future.

Orders for baskets similar to the ones that inspired Sarawi to open Noble Essenceย  Market can be ordered for any occasion through their Instagram @noble_cafe_ny or over the phone at 845-236-6247.
