Rockland Mourns 23rd Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

A 9/11 Memorial Service was held at Haverstraw Bay Park on the morning of the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The names of the 83 Rockland County residents lost in the attack were read aloud by family members of victims. Behind the family members, cantor, clergy and County Executive Ed Day stood a monument erected from a piece of metal from the Twin Towers.

As per tradition a bell tolled at 8:45 AM in remembrance of the impact which destroyed the North Tower of the World Trade Center, and again at 9:03 am in memory of the attack on the South Tower.ย

Memorials were also heldย  in Stony Point, Clarkstown, Nyack, Suffern and Rockland Community College.
