New Rockland economic development and tourism director named

Cheryl Dean Ward has been named the new Director of Rockland Countyโ€™s Office for the Aging (OFA). Cheryl Ward accepts the role following seven years as Director of Events and Development with the Venture Foundation. In that role she was responsible for managing fundraising initiatives and events, funding and grant applications, and more.

โ€œI am proud to announce the appointment of Cheryl Ward to lead our Office for the Aging. I have no doubt that Cheryl understands the challenges our older residents face and will work diligently to strengthen and enhance the many positive programs and initiatives within OFA. She is incredibly driven and motivated to assist those in need, and her extensive experience will ensure she gets the job done,โ€ wrote County Executive Ed Day in a statement shared with the RCT.

Wardโ€™s other work experience includes Director of Events and Food Service at Henry Kaufman Campgrounds, running her own event planning company, and serving as a Long-Term Care Consultant for Long-Term Care facilities throughout New York City and Westchester and Rockland counties.ย  She earned two Bachelor degrees from Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Gerontology and in Recreation and Leisure.

The Office for the Aging Director position pays $126,310 annually and requires the confirmation of the Rockland County Legislature.
