The difference between 1-1 and 0-2. Mr Rodgers!

We are two weeks into the 2024 NFL season and I think the Jets being situated at 1-1 after 2 games is pretty much on brand as to what was expected. 

The Jets had a very tough Week 1 opponent. They were on the road against the defending NFC Champion 49ers and were outclassed right out of the gate. 

Week 2 was about responding, and to the Jets credit they did. 

They overcame a slow start and rallied to beat the Tennessee Titans. 

The Jets were far from perfect in Week 2. The once stout defense has had major issues over the first two games. 

Too many missed tackles, too many big holes for opposing running backs and way too many penalties. 

For a good chunk of Week 2, it looked like the Jets were destined for the dreaded 0-2. 

How did they pull out a hard fought, tough win against the Titans on Sunday? 

Well, it’s pretty simple. The intellect and wits of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. 

The stat sheet for Rodgers of 18 for 30, 176 yards and 2 touchdowns isn’t overwhelming, but his veteran presence was the difference in the game. 

It was so obvious watching the Jets run their offense the impact the future Hall Of Famer can have in late game situations. 

There is a sense of calm that Rodgers provides. You can see it on third down, you can’t see it in the red zone. 

He’s been there, he’s done that. 

Does Aaron Rodgers move around like he once did? Of course not. 

He’s 40 years old and is fresh off a torn achilles. 

That said, when he’s given time to throw. Rodgers can still sling it with the best of them. 

The Jets have improved their offensive line significantly and the hope is they will be able to keep Rodgers upright for the 17 game season. 

We have a long way to go in this 2024 season, but I know this.
