Student calls in phony terror threat to North Rockland High

A 16-year-old West Haverstraw girl has been arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat after a potential incident of a shooting in the North Rockland School District.

 Police immediately began investigating the claim and were able to locate the person who created the social media post, which turned out to be a false claim.

 The teen was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Youth Part of Superior Court. Haverstraw Town Police said they are dedicated to keeping students and staff safe in schools and will continue to investigate any claim or threat of violence with all the manpower and resources they have.

 The department said it will not tolerate persons looking to put fear into the community and will charge them with all appropriate charges and make sure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
