The Rockland County Department of Health, in collaboration with the Village of Haverstraw and Haverstraw Kingโs Daughters Library, is pleased to announce the installation of a StoryWalkยฎ Project at Emeline Park located at 16 Front Street in Haverstraw, NY featuring the book Iโm Hungry! iTengo Hambre! in English and Spanish by Angela Dominguez.ย
StoryWalkยฎ is aย way for community members to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise. A childrenโs story has been laid out in posts on an outdoor path around the park.ย As you walk the path, you are directed to the next page in the story. Library staff will update the StoryWalkยฎ books seasonally to engage residents year-round.
โThe StoryWalkยฎ Project is free and accessible during normal park hours. Put on your walking shoes, bring your family, donโt forget your reading glasses, and come enjoy this StoryWalkยฎ Project at this great park,โ said Kevin McKay, Interim Deputy Commissioner of Health.
โWe are looking forward to continuing to collaborate with the village to promote literacy, reading, health, exercise, and movement in the community,โ said Frank Erlanger, Haverstraw Kingโs Daughters Public Library Aide.
โI encourage everyone to visit Emelineโs Park ADA accessible StoryWalkยฎ and take a stroll with young children to enjoy the pages of an engaging childrenโs story, while you take in the breathtaking views of the Hudson River,โ said Village of Haverstraw Trustee Richard Sena.

StoryWalkยฎ was created by Anne Ferguson and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier, Vermont.
