Grenade found in Orangetown

On Saturday, October 12th, a hand grenade was discovered on the side of the road in Rockland County. First responders to the area of 110 W. Crooked Hill Road in Orangetown included the Rockland County Bomb Squad, Orangetown Police, and the Pearl River Fire Department and Ambulance Squad. The discovery of the device led to a shelter-in-place order for residents who lived within a quarter mile. After further investigation, it was determined that the device was a training device and posed no threat to the public. This remains a current investigation, and anyone with information surrounding the event is asked to contact the Orangetown Police at 845-359-3700.
