The Fall of 2024. One for the Books
This past weekend has provided in many ways a sort of sports nirvana for many of our residents.
Weekends in the fall are always reserved for football and when the schedule came out in May, you knew that a prime time Met Life Weekend with the Giants on Sunday Night and the Jets on Monday Night would command attention.
Little did we know in May that the two football games were just a part of the backstory.
After all, didnโt anticipate both the Yankees and Mets finding their way to the League Championship series together for the first time in 24 seasons.
Iโm sure many stories will be told from this Columbus Day weekend for years to come.
How did you manage to watch the Mets and the Giants some will ask?
Did you set up two TVโs? Pull up a laptop? Go for the classic back button on your remote?
Sunday was believe it or not the appetizer.
Monday set up a sports day for the ages.
Mets at 400, Yankees at 737 and the Jets at 815 all on the same night.
It should have been a perfect NY Sports trifecta, but of course the Jets had to have other plans.
It wasnโt too long ago that New York sports were the butt of a whole lot of jokes.
City of losers.ย
Well, not anymore.
The football teams may both be 2-4, but between the Spring at Madison Square Garden and the October nights in Flushing and in the Bronx.
Its hard to imagine the city more alive.
Well, a little more cooperation from each baseball team and we may be dialing up that intensity even higher.
I say let the good times roll…
