Orangetown Board member Dan Sullivan (R/C) is being challenged for his seat by a local banker and community volunteer, Chrissy Knapp (D) on the November 5 ballot.
Sullivan, an accountant who served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for two decades, was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Town Board a year ago and is now running to retain his seat. He has continued to advocate for sustainable development and has been a staunch supporter of affordable housing that will allow younger residents to remain in the community. A native of Orangetown, he hopes to continue his duties on the Board serving the public and bringing new business to town.
Chrissy Knapp returned to her hometown of Orangetown after obtaining her college education in Connecticut. The banker and mother of four has spent several years volunteering in the community, including the Cornell Cooperative Extension and has worked with students to establish gardens in local elementary schools and has served as President of the Nyack Park Conservancy since 2016. She hopes to bring her experience as a community advocate and program manager to address issues in Town. โThereโs a diverse and growing population in Orangetown that deserves representationโฆincreasing residentsโ quality of life, focusing on environmental stewardship and providing greater transparency in the governmental processโ are all ideals Knapp states that she takes very seriously, and she hopes to serve the community in this role.
