A Sunday & A Season To Forget for NY Football Fans

Look, after all the fun that was had throughout the month of October, you had to imagine the other shoe was ready to drop for NY Sports Fans. 

That other shoe happens to be the 2024 New York Football season, which has been nothing short of nightmarish for both the Jets and the Giants this year. 

This past Sunday was the definition of rock bottom for both franchises in what is shaping up to be another lost season. 

It started at 9:30 AM with the Giants in Germany against the lowly Carolina Panthers. The Giants took on a team that was ranked statistically as one of the worst defenses in the sport. 

They proceeded to get shut out in the first half. 

In Giants land, the equation is pretty simple. 

The quarterback simply is not up to standard. 

When you add up the eye test, the statistics and the overall play of Daniel Jones, it’s pretty clear. 

After six years as Giants signal caller, the results clearly are not there. 

The mistakes, the missed reads, the wide open throws missed, the Giants cannot tolerate that level of incompetence. 

The Giants lost a crushing game in overtime, but it should have never come to that against a lowly opponent. 

The fortunes of the franchise at 2-8 lost at sea, surround draft pick, who is next at quarterback and a whole lot of meaningless games down the stretch. 

The reality is that the Giants’ situation isn’t totally surprising. 

For the other team in town, it is mind numbing to think that the Jets are 3-7 after 10 games this season. 

Coming off their most impressive half of the season, the Jets followed up with a massive dud. They gave up an opening drive touchdown to the Arizona Cardinals and simply never looked back.  The defense was nothing short of embarrassing. 

They missed tackles, they were out of position and looked completely lost in trying to slow down Kyler Murray. 

Offensively, Aaron Rodgers and the offense mustered up a whopping 6 points. 

A season that had Playoff and to some Super Bowl aspirations at the start of the season has resulted in one of the biggest disappointments in the history of NY Sports. 

The Jets with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback healthy through the first ten weeks of the season sit with a record of 3-7. 

How did we get here? 

Well for starters, a whole lot of dysfunction. 

An incompetent head coach was fired five weeks into the season. 

The Jets defense has fallen massively short of lofty expectations. 

The offense has looked like a unit led by a 40 year old quarterback. It flashes at times, but it’s asking a lot for a unit led by a player on the back 9 of his career to lead you to great lengths 

So it’s the middle of November, the baseball hangover is over and done with. 

Lets welcome the 2-8 Giants and 3-7 Jets to center stage.
