The Patriot Lounge – Stony Point’s One Stop Shop for Good Food with a Side of Fun

Stationed right off the Palisades Interstate Pkwy, historic buildings of the former residential institution Letchworth Village stand watch. A driveway snaking through the village culminates in what is now The Patriot Lounge. Between Robert McFadden, Michael McFadden and Chef Peter Mueller Jr., the three Rocklanders have brought into being a multifaceted space suitable for any occasion.

After participating in their fair share of corporate America, father and son Robert and Michael Mueller were ready to do something different. “We wanted to build a high end experience where we had great food, great cocktails, great service, and build this interactive experience around it,” shared Robert. When the two began looking for locations, they found that the building’s previous owner’s lease was coming to an end and the town was searching for a new owner. Robert and Michael shared their plans to transform the space and ended up winning the bid, taking the two took one step closer to their dream. “It [was] a bit of a leap of faith to go from [Michael’s] finance and industry work [and] my sales and marketing work to, okay, how do we turn that into being restaurateurs?” said Robert. Thankfully, the two had family friend Chef Peter Mueller Jr. ready to jump on board with them. The three Stony Point locals decided to play to their strengths and split up the management of the space into food and beverage, finance, and sales and marketing, and in the spring of 2022 they were ready.

The Patriot Lounge encompasses three distinct dining areas; the Battlefield Hall, the Revolutionary Grill, and the eponymous Patriot Lounge. Each provides their own unique flavor for a night out or an event.

Battlefield Banquet Hall is the largest space, hosting events such as small weddings, retirement dinners and birthday parties, as well as Patriot Lounge-run events like their comedy nights or Murder Mystery Night. The more formal, minimalistically decorated space allows for guests to dress it up to suit their style.

Steps away from the Battlefield Banquet Hall lies the Revolutionary Grill. This multipurpose room is used for gatherings of around 60 people, such as bridal and baby showers. Large windows open up to the golf course, allowing natural light to flood in and illuminate the space. Soon, Robert McFadden and Chef Mueller plan to shift the space for three nights a week into an elevated Italian Chop House. This intimate setting will allow for Robert and Mueller to offer a quieter, more high end experience for guests. Chef Mueller is thrilled to be able to have such a variety of spaces, and now that the Patriot Lounge kitchen is thriving he looks forward to focusing on “…doing really good Italian pastas and small plates – it’s what I love to do!”.

While having a romantic date night is always nice, Robert and Mueller are big proponents of switching things up. The Patriot Lounge is, in Mueller’s words, an “adult playground”, welcoming families, couples and friends alike to get loud and have fun. With Trackman golf simulators, axe throwing, pool tables, live music, comedy nights and an 18 hole golf course steps away, it’s difficult to disagree – the place really is a playground. Once guests are able to tear themselves away from the multiple flat screen televisions and variety of games, they should be ready to dig in to the all-American menu of Chef Mueller.

Diversity is one of America’s best attributes, and one that is reflected in the offerings on Chef Mueller’s menu. From the McBaconator, to the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, to a Cajun Fettucine to an XXL Taco Salad, guests should ensure they wear their best stretchy pants to make room for all Chef Mueller has to offer.

What sets the Patriot Lounge apart from chains such as Dave and Buster’s is the home-grown touch. “We’re family owned…There’s a lot of big places like this but not many people…have the small touch to the business. We care. We’re here for every event,” shared Chef Mueller. With all of their staff coming from Rockland, guests can’t get more local than this. “I take a lot of pride in being able to do something like this in my community” stated Robert. After spending years frustrated over corporate stagnation, one of Robert’s favorite aspects of being a business owner is the ability to make changes quickly and efficiently based on the feedback of his guests and employees.

The excitement surrounding their work at Patriot Lounge crackles off Robert and Chef Mueller, letting guests know the two have no plans of slowing down anytime soon. “We want to start to enhance our dinner business. We want to start to book more events. We want to…add to the experience that we have to the community, and just make this business a viable entity that’s going to stay around for a long time,” shared Robert, smiling broadly.
