Rockland County DA’s Office Hosts Annual Legislative Breakfast

This week RCCC  hosted the annual legislative breakfast for over 100 hundred Rockland County elected officials, staff, and community leaders. Staff from the RCDAO gave presentations on local crime trends, important cases, community outreach, investigations into ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children), and a demonstration by electronics detection K9 Remy.

County officials were joined by Alison Crowther, the mother of Rockland and 9/11 hero Welles Remy Crowther.

Welles grew up in Upper Nyack, graduating from Nyack High School and Boston College. On September 11, 2001, Welles was a 24-years old working as an equities trader for Sandler O’Neill & Partners in 2 World Trade Center on the 104th floor. When the attacks on the World Trade Center began, Welles jumped right into action to help people evacuate the building, saving as many as 18 lives.

In 2023, the county honored  Welles Remy Crowther’s legacy by naming electronics detection K9 “Remy.” Remy is 1 of 100 electronics detection K9s in the country. District Attorney Tom Walsh presented Mrs. Crowther with a shadow box with Remy’s badge and all the attendees were given a red bandana and asked to help spread Welles’ legacy of courage and service.

The Town of Ramapo Police Department Honor Guard, the Albertus Magnus High School Choir, were also in attendance.
