Former county corrections officer sentenced on misconduct charge

Former Rockland County Corrections Officer John Kezek, 39, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Florida, New York, was sentenced in Rockland County Court on his guilty plea to tampering with public records and official misconduct.

As part of his sentence, he will serve five years of probation with drug and alcohol conditions and an order of protection was issued in favor of the victim in this case who was housed in the jail at the time of the incidents.

Kezek admitted to making false entries to the records maintained by the Rockland County Jail and to exposing himself to a female inmate at the facility while working as a corrections officer with the sheriff’s office during 2019.

District Attorney Thomas Walsh II said Kezek “was given the trust and authority to protect all prisoners in the jail.” The DA praised the victimized incarcerated women who came forward to report the sexual harassment.

Walsh said that the men and women of the county jail corrections division are true professionals. “The actions of this individual in no way reflects the values and dedication shown everyday by those officers.”
