In November of 2024, the Ramapo Police department was made aware of a plot to commit assault and robbery of a local business employee by a man on parole for crimes of a similar nature. They found that the man suspected of this criminal plot had recruited several others in his planning, including a juvenile. Detective Lt. Christopher Franklin announced that the Ramapo police, in collaboration with the New York State Parole Division, arrested 42 year old Sloatsburg resident Roberto Astacio on December 27th for a parole violation. An investigation by the State Parole Division and the Ramapo Police resulted in establishing probable cause, leading to Astacioโs arrest. After his arrest, Astacio was remanded to Rockland County Jail where he was charged with Conspiracy 4th Degree, Criminal Solicitation 4th Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child by the Ramapo Police Investigations Division. Astacio remains accused, and should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
