County begins 2025 with lowest unemployment rate in Hudson Valley

January unemployment figures in the Hudson Valley and across the state have Rockland County with the lowest rate of all 62 counties. The county registered 3.3 percent unemployment.

Right behind Rockland was Putnam County with 3.4 percent, the second lowest rate in the state.

Statewide, the rate of joblessness was 4.6 percent in January.

Following behind the top two counties were Westchester with 3.5 percent, Dutchess with 3.6 percent, Columbia with 3.7 percent, Greene and Ulster counties, each with 4.0 percent, Sullivan and Orange counties, each with 4.1 percent unemployment, and Delaware County with 4.9 percent.

In each county, the rates of joblessness were minimally higher or lower than previous January levels.
