Staying Connected: Hoehm Town Happenings TV Show

Since becoming Supervisor, one of my top priorities is keeping our residents informed, engaged, and connected with what’s happening in our town. That’s why each month, I host a television program that is a valuable tool we have for building community, sharing important updates, and celebrating the people who make our town such a special place to live.

Our monthly TV show airs on local cable and provides residents an opportunity to stay up to date on everything from town initiatives and infrastructure projects to events, services, and community highlights. But more than just a source of information, it’s a forum where we can spotlight the individuals and organizations doing incredible work right here in our own backyard.

Each episode features interviews with local community leaders and veterans. It could be representatives from non-profit organizations, fellow elected officials, school officials and more.  These conversations give our viewers a firsthand look at the work being done behind the scenes to support and improve our town.

When we sit down with community leaders, we hear about the day-to-day challenges and triumphs of running local programs, managing small businesses, or advocating for change. Our segments with non-profits are especially inspiring. Whether it’s a food pantry helping families put meals on the table, an organization supporting youth and education, or a group focused on environmental sustainability, their dedication and passion are evident. These interviews not only shed light on the critical work being done, but also encourage more residents to get involved, volunteer, or lend their support.

Speaking with other elected officials—whether from the town board, county, state, or federal level—helps create transparency and understanding about how different layers of government interact. These discussions often cover legislation, funding opportunities, or regional collaborations that directly impact our community. It’s a reminder that government works best when it works together.

Perhaps some of the most meaningful moments on the show come from our conversations with veterans. Their stories of service and sacrifice are powerful, and they remind us of the importance of honoring those who have given so much for our freedom. By highlighting local veterans, we not only preserve their stories but also foster a greater appreciation for the men and women who have served.

In addition to these interviews, each episode includes a town update segment, which I personally deliver. It’s a brief but informative roundup of recent developments—everything from roadwork and public safety initiatives to parks and recreation programming, budget updates, and community events. I believe it’s essential for residents to hear directly from their elected officials about the decisions being made and the projects underway.

What I’ve found most rewarding is the feedback we receive from residents. People stop me at the grocery store or at community events to say how much they enjoyed an episode or how they learned something new. Some even reach out to suggest future guests or topics—which we always welcome! The show is for you, after all, and we want it to reflect your interests and concerns.

In an age where so much communication happens in soundbites or social media posts, I think it’s important to carve out space for real conversations. Our show isn’t about flashy headlines or political grandstanding—it’s about substance, stories, and solutions. It’s about creating a channel for dialogue, understanding, and community pride.
