Impact Medical Provides Quality Care for Rockland Allergy Patients

As we enter spring and the pollen counts rise, allergy patients across the county are beginning to experience bothersome symptoms of watery eyes, nasal congestion, sneezing, postnasal drip, sinus headaches and wheezing. This year, if your symptoms slow you down or interfere with your quality of life, the RCT recommends a visit to Impact Medical.

Impact Medical was founded by Jeffrey Weiss, M.D., in 2004.  Dr. Weiss received his education and training at Cornell University, Drexel University, Columbia University and Albert Einstein University.   Impact Medical was launched with the goal of providing the best and most compassionate care for patients suffering from Allergy, Asthma and Immunologic conditions.  Impact Medical started in Northern New Jersey before opening additional offices across the Tri State Area.  Impact Medical is the premier allergy practice in the New York/New Jersey region, with six locations and over 100,000 patients.  One of the newest offices is based in West Nyack, NY.  Impact Medical is excited to now provide medical care to the Rockland community.

โ€œWe cover a wide range of different diagnosesโ€ states David Resnick, M.D., a Board Certified Specialist in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology who recently joined the practice, told the RCT.  After years of treating allergy patients across the Hudson Valley, Dr. Resnick has observed an uptick in patients seeking relief from environmental and food allergies.  Impact Medical specializes in Seasonal Allergies, Sinusitis, Nasal Polyps, Asthma, Chronic hives and swelling, Eczema, Food allergies, Drug allergies, and Immunodeficiencies.

โ€œMore and more kids have food allergies and there is an increase in the number of adults suffering from food allergies,โ€ states Dr. Resnick.  He then continues:  โ€œIn Rockland County, about 20% of the patients, at one point, will go on an inhaler, or develop some sort of asthma.โ€  Fortunately, Dr. Resnick has noted a reciprocal evolution in the diagnosis and available treatment options to treat asthma and was proud to tell the RCT that Impact Medical is able to provide the most current and up to date treatment for patients suffering from asthma.

โ€œNow, instead of just having one or two medications to choose from, there are five or six different medications.  We can perform pulmonary function tests and laboratory tests, which help us predict which medications an individual patient will likely respond to best.  In the past there were asthmatics who frequently required emergency room treatment.  However, thanks to the therapies available today, pretty much once they are in our practice, patients rarely require urgent care or emergency room visits.โ€

Dr. Resnick also described new treatments called biologics that benefit patients who manifest allergy and asthma conditions.  Examples include Xolair, Nucala, Fasenra, Tezspire and Dupixent.   Both Dr. Weiss and Dr. Resnick were excited to report the advances in their field and how these new treatment options, when prescribed to appropriate patients, can have a tremendous positive impact on a patientโ€™s quality of life.

โ€œAt Impact Medical, we take great pride in getting to know our patients and caring for them over years and even decades.  Given we are board certified in both pediatric and adult medicine, we often take care of multiple generations within a family.   We look forward to providing compassionate and modern care for patients in Rockland County and becoming a foundation in the medical community.โ€
