Join us for a hike and a bag lunch at the West Point Foundry Preserve in Cold Spring, the site of an immense 19th-century Ironworks that manufactured some of Americaโ€™s first steam engines, locomotives, pipes for New York Cityโ€™s water system, and cannons that helped win the Civil War.

As we hike trails that pass the remains of foundry buildings, weโ€™ll learn the story of the siteโ€™s contribution to the Industrial Revolution and the Civil War, as well as the landโ€™s astonishing ecological renewal; an amazing natural landscape with marshland, bubbling brooks, streams and a lovely waterfall.
