A disruptive audience member was forcibly carried out of Town Hall in Westchester last Sunday
Footage from Congressman Mike Lawlerโsย (R-17) second of four planned town halls went viral this week, after Emily Feiner, a 64-year-old social worker, was physically carried out of JFK Catholic Preparatory School in Somers, N.Y.ย
ย In a statement shared with the RCT, Congressman Lawler defended the actions of state police stating โToday, a radical far-left activist, who was escorted out of my town hall last night by state police after repeatedly disrupting the event, disrespecting fellow attendees, abusing my staff, and ignoring orders by state police, compared her experience to the brutal murder of six million Jews in Nazi Germany. With all due respect, thatโs insane and offensive. She needs help.โ
Regular readers will recall that Lawlerโs first town hall of 2025, which was held in Clarkstown South High School on April 27, was also contentious and resulted in the removal of several audience members, though none were forcibly carried away from the proceedings.ย
As Lawler continues to defy the advisement of Republican Party leadership and hold public meetings with his constituents, the congressman appears to have become something of a lighting rod for residents of the NY-17 unhappy with the actions of the Trump administration.ย
Lawlerโsย remarks drew condemnation from the Rockland County Pride Center, who, in a statement shared with the RCT wrote โWhen a sitting member of Congress uses his platform to mock, vilify, and irresponsibly label a private citizen mentally ill for expressing political dissent, it is not just inappropriate. It is a threat. And it is exactly the kind of behavior our organizations exist to confront.โ
Fernier, who spoke to Newsweek on Monday told the press โI was certainly no threat,, I asked by congressperson what his red line was to finally, vocally oppose the lawless administration and he didnโt answer the question, so I called out for him to answer it and he had me removed.โ
