TRFD Breaks Ground on New Headquarters

If there’s one thing Rocklanders love, it’s their firefighters. Last year, Rocklanders put their vote where their mouth is and voted with an astounding 90% positive vote on a $24 million bond for the Thiells Roseville Fire District. On May 27th, the Thiells Roseville Fire District, or TRFD, broke ground on a 4.8 acre plot of land at 65 W Ramapo that will host their new headquarters.

The TRFD has a fully qualified dive team that covers the Hudson River from Newburgh Bridge to GWB, covering water, mountain, and fire rescues over 8000 acres. They also respond to hazardous material incidents, multiple casualty events, medical emergencies, and natural or man-made disasters. “Everything except get a cat out of a tree,” winked Bobby Masiello, one of the Elected Board Commissioners.

With all of their development, the team has outgrown their current headquarters. “We were started in 1960, and our resources are so small right now we’ve outgrown them. It’s unsafe,” stated Masiello. He described a headquarters so tight that volunteers cannot move the vehicles around and are forced to stop 202 traffic every time they need to pull in or out.

After seven years of hunting for their new location, the TRFD is excited for their updated, more spacious headquarters. The project is estimated to be completed in October of 2026. Congratulations to TRFD and thank you for your tireless efforts towards keeping us safe. Interested in becoming a volunteer?
