A 45-year-old Cliffside Park, New Jersey man is in the Rockland County Jail following his arrest at 7 Tuesday morning in connection with an armed robbery of a business in Garnerville.

Nelson Morales was taken into custody in Orangetown following an investigation by Haverstraw Police and other law enforcement partners.

It is alleged that at 9:15 p.m. on June 25, while armed with a gun, Morales robbed a store clerk.

He has been charged with armed robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, all as felonies.

Bail has been set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 secure bond, or $75,000 partially secured bond.

Assisting Haverstraw Police in the investigation were the State Police, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Rockland County Intelligence Center, and the FBI-Westchester Safe Streets Task Force.

“Haverstraw is a community of good, hardworking people,” said Police Chief John Gould. “Anyone who thinks they can come into our town and commit a crime should think again. We will not rest until those responsible are identified, located, and brought to justice.”
