Clarkstown is forging ahead with its town improvement, as evidenced by the packed agenda for the August 19th Town Hall meeting.
The town authorized the financing of costs of construction materials for new development, coming to $50,000 in serial bonds. The financing of a professional land surveying service not to exceed $44,750 in serial bonds was authorized as well as a $45,000 serial bond for planning improvements to Rockland Country Day School.
The Rockland Country Day School was a seemingly popular prep school with well known graduates such as Lea Michele, Sebastian Stan, and Grace VanderWaal. The school closed in 2019 due to financial and enrollment challenges, but the land may be under a facelift with these new financial injections.
Several bids were awarded conducive with the town improvement theme. HVAC upgrades for the gym at Pascack Community Center, the office areas at Central Nyack and Zukor Community Center and several other community centers were awarded bids for HVAC improvements. After how the oppressive heat of this year’s summer, it is obvious that these improvements are no longer a want but a need.
The town gave the green light for the Clarkstown Police Department to enter into an Equitable Sharing Agreement with the DEA Westchester County Task Force. This new partnership established by the Equitable Sharing Agreement is intended to establish greater access to DEA equipment and intelligence, as well as a share in the funds from illegal assets seized. These funds are used for betterment of the police department, such as equipment or training programs.
The next Clarkstown Town Hall meeting has been moved from September 29th and will now be taking place on September 25th at 7:00 p.m.
