SVPD Arrest Man Following Rise in Vehicle Break Ins

On August 20, 2025, the Spring Valley Police Department conducted a proactive vehicle  larceny operation in response to a recent uptick in vehicle break-ins affecting village  residents.

While monitoring the areas of Rose Avenue, Ewing Avenue, Prospect Street, and the  Bethune Boulevard corridor, officers observed a male subject matching the description  from previous larceny investigations walking on Rose Avenue. As officers continued  surveillance, they observed the subject using a cell phone flashlight to look into parked  vehicles in the lot of 131 Bethune Boulevard.

When officers attempted to stop the individual for further investigation, he fled on foot. Officers pursued the suspect and successfully apprehended him in the area of Slinn  Avenue.

A subsequent canvass of the area revealed a vehicle in the parking lot of 90 Ewing Avenue with a shattered front driver’s side window. Officers were able to determine that  the suspect had broken into the vehicle and stolen property from inside. Additionally,  another vehicle in the area was found to have been entered and rummaged through, though no items were reported stolen.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Spring Valley resident Daeshawn Wesley Outerbridge. Mr. Outerbridge was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd (E Felony), Petit Larceny (A- Misdemeanor), Attempted Petit Larceny (A-Misdemeanor),  and Obstructing Government Administration (A-Misdemeanor). Mr. Outerbridge was  arraigned before the Honorable Judge Sweet of the Spring Valley Justice Court and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
