The Stony Point Police Department has announced the arrest of a Fieldstone Middle School student following months-long sextortion investigation that began in February 2025. This case highlights both the serious dangers our children face online and the extraordinary bravery of students who came forward.
The investigation was launched after victims at Fieldstone Middle School reported to their School Resource Officer and school administrators that they were being coerced online. Their decision to speak up, supported by their parents, enabled police to conduct an intensive investigation in partnership with the North Rockland Central School District, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office (Special Victims Unit and Electronics Detection K9), the Haverstraw Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Computer Crimes and Intelligence Divisions.
At this time, approximately six victims have come forward, but investigators have reason to believe there are potentially several hundred additional victims who may not yet have reported their experiences. The Stony Point Police Department urges any student or parent with information to contact our Youth Officer, Detective Andrew Kryger at 845-786-2422.
As a result of this investigation, a student was arrested and charged with use of a child in a sexual performance, a Class C Felony, promoting a sexual performance by a child, a Class D Felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, a Class E felony.
This crime is extremely serious and involves the victimization of students within our community. Police officials stress that sextortion is not only a local issue, but a global problem fueled by social media. Many parents may be unaware of the extent of these dangers. It is essential to create safe, judgment-free environments where children feel comfortable reporting concerns.
To further support our community, the Stony Point Police Department & Haverstraw Police Department, in collaboration with the North Rockland Central School District, will host an open forum and presentation at Fieldstone Middle School Auditorium in the near future. This event will review the case, provide resources on sextortion awareness, and offer an opportunity for parents and students to ask questions. Details will be announced soon.
The Stony Point Police Department commends the courage of the victims and their families in helping bring this case to light. Together, we can protect our children and prevent further victimization. It is up to us as a community, together with school administration and parents, to provide safe platforms where our youth feel comfortable speaking about negative experiences without fear of secondary consequences, humiliation, or punishment. We must create an environment that instills confidence and trust, ensuring that our children never feel alone and always know that support is available when they need it.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and an individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
