Help Shape Rockland’s Future

Every community needs a roadmap — a vision that guides where we’re going and how we want to get there. For Rockland County, that roadmap is our Comprehensive Plan, and right now, we’re in the process of updating it through an initiative called Envision Rockland.

This plan will serve as a blueprint for how our County grows and evolves over the next decade and beyond. It will shape decisions on housing, transportation, land use, infrastructure, economic development, environmental protection, and overall quality of life. In short, it’s about what kind of Rockland we want to leave for the next generation.

To make sure that vision truly reflects the needs and priorities of our residents, we’re inviting you to take part in the second round of public workshops for Envision Rockland. These sessions will highlight data collected so far, along with preliminary goals, priorities, and strategies developed by our Planning Department and project team.

Each workshop will start with a short presentation, followed by an interactive open house where you can visit different topic stations and share your feedback directly with our planners.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

– Learn how the Comprehensive Plan will guide Rockland’s future.

– Respond to the draft Vision Statement and Planning Goals.

– Weigh in on the initial strategies identified to address key issues.

This is your chance to shape the decisions that will impact Rockland for years to come.

Here’s where and when you can join us:

– Thursday, October 23 – Orangetown Town Hall (26 Orangeburg Road, Orangeburg)

– Wednesday, October 29 – Patriot Hills Senior & Community Center (19 Clubhouse Lane, Stony Point)

– Thursday, October 30 – Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library (10 West Ramapo Road, Garnerville)

– Tuesday, November 18 – Clarkstown Town Hall (10 Maple Avenue, New City)

– Wednesday, November 19 – Ramapo Town Hall (237 Route 59, Suffern) — Hybrid option via Zoom available

All workshops run from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and registration is available on Eventbrite under Envision Rockland by Rockland County.

If you can’t make it in person, a virtual option will be offered for the Ramapo session, and all presentation materials will be available afterward at EnvisionRockland.com. An online survey will also launch on October 23 so residents can share their feedback at any time during the workshop series.

I’ve always believed that the best ideas for Rockland’s future come from the people who call it home. This plan isn’t being written in an office — it’s being shaped by you. I’m asking everyone who cares about our community’s future to join us, listen, and share your thoughts.

Together, we can create a vision that honors Rockland’s history, strengthens its communities, and ensures a bright, sustainable future for all.
