Acclaimed Pakistani-American musician Sherjan Ahmad has been featured on “This New Age,” a song officially being considered by the Recording Academy for the 2026 Grammy Awards in the category of Best Alternative Rock Music Performance.
Originally written in 1984 by veteran producer and songwriter Larry Dvoskin—whose collaborations include David Bowie, The Beach Boys, and Robert Plant—“This New Age” sat quietly for nearly four decades until this year, when Larry revived the track and reached out to Sherjan Ahmad, Taylor Simpson & Familiar Faces.
“Larry reached out and invited me to collaborate on this song he wrote 40 years ago,” says Sherjan. “It’s inspired by big questions about where humanity is headed. What made this project special was how artists from completely different backgrounds came together to create something soulful and timeless.”
The song was reborn through a cross-generational and cross-cultural collaboration that unfolded earlier this year.
