Nanuet Barnes and Noble Closing Down After 33 years

Beloved bookstore Barnes & Noble is closing down after 33 years of serving Nanuet. In a letter posted to the doors of the establishment, Barnes & Noble addressed customers, stating “It is with great sadness that we confirm the closure of this Barnes & Noble bookstore as our lease has ended. Our last day will be January 18th, 2026. We have loved being a part of this neighborhood, and it has been our honor and privilege to be your bookseller for the last 33 years.”
The letter continued on, encouraging customers to shop at their West Nyack location or online, then closed out by thanking customers for their continued patronage.

This shopping area has gone through massive changes in the last year, including the shutdown of Marshalls and several stores sporting “Going Out of Business – Sale!” signs.

There are rumors of the bookstore being pushed out by the landlord, but no tell yet of what is to replace the space.

Readers should run, not walk, to Nanuet and stock up. At time of print, the store was packed with shoppers eagerly taking advantage of the closing sales.

Losing a bookstore is always a blow to a community, and for a shopping plaza that doesn’t have much else going on, we can only hope that it will be replaced by a space just as educational and fun as a bookstore.
