Rockland Libraries Receive Over $1.6 Million

Senator Bill Weber has recently personally visited multiple public libraries across the 38th Senate District to deliver $1,630,491 in State Aid for Library Construction funding, ensuring critical improvements that will enhance safety, accessibility, and community services.

The funding, awarded through the New York State Library’s Public Library Construction Aid Program, supports renovations, energy-efficient upgrades, emergency power systems, and expanded learning and study spaces.

The following libraries received funding, listed in ascending amounts of money granted:

Palisades Free Library 

Service Population: 827 residents

ADA Bathroom Upgrade and Storage Expansion.

Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library 

Service Population: 32,540 residents.

Modernize public elevator and equipment.

Valley Cottage Library 

Service Population: 9,107 residents

— $114,811

Renovate the current teen space into a dedicated teen room and construct three study rooms.

New City Free Library 

Service Population: 46,030 residents

— $248,700

Replacement of main electric switchboard and installation of a whole-building emergency generator.

Pearl River Public Library 

Service Population: 15,564 residents

— $359,027

126 window replacements.

Finkelstein Memorial Library 

Service Population: 113,031 residents

Geothermal Well Field Installation

Suffern Free Library  

Service Population: 28,617 residents

— $409,848

Renovate Adult & Teen space, construct six individual study rooms and a learning lab/maker space.
