Fatal House Fire in New City

On Jan. 21, 2026, around 5:30 p.m. New City Fire Dept. arrived at 12 Glenmere Road, New City, for a structure fire. When NCFD arrived, flames were visible through the roof of the house. 

NCFD search crew located and removed the resident from the house. The resident was pronounced deceased on scene.  Theresa C. Schocher, born August 27, 1933 in Brooklyn, was the victim.

Due to the volume of the fire, NCFD had to flow water into the house through the roof. Shortly after, the fire was under control.
