Keimoni Spinks, 27, of Spring Valley, New York, was found guilty in Rockland County Court and was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree and was convicted on both counts following the five-day bench trial.
On July 29, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a Ramapo police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for excessively tinted windows. Spinks, who was in the front passenger seat, fled from the vehicle on foot while the driver remained on scene.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol inside a bag located on the floor of the front passenger side. The firearm was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, including one in the chamber.
Video surveillance captured the defendant fleeing from the vehicle and a SV police officer was able to identify Spinks who was on parole for a 2018 felony conviction in Orange County for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
Spinks was apprehended at a hotel in Spring Valley and taken into custody. Evidence later confirmed that Spinks’ DNA was present on the bag containing the weapon.
Following the verdict, the defendant was remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bail. Sentencing is scheduled for April 22, 2026.
The investigation was conducted by the Ramapo Police Department and the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County Sherriff’s Office, New York State Lab, and Forensic Investigation Center.
