New City Shopping Center Struggles to Find New Business

Almost one year ago,  on February 21, 2025, ShopRite held a grand reopening, at 66 N. Main Street, New City. ShopRite is the anchor store of the New City Shopping Center, which is completely changing under new ownership.

In October 2022, the property was acquired in a joint venture between KABR Group of Englewood, New Jersey, and BTF Capital of Rockville Centre.

Allegedly due to increased rent fees, all the stores adjacent to ShopRite have closed their doors except for David’s Bagels. The old stores included a discount card and lottery store, a dollar store and dry cleaners.  The Chinese food restaurant is moving to a different location in the former Mandarin Chinese Food site near the closed movie theater, New City Pizza, Hallmark store and M&T Bank.
