Ramapo Robbers Rounded Up

On March 2, 2026, at approximately 3:46 a.m., the Spring Valley Police  Department responded to the area of 1 Union Road for a reported robbery. During the investigation, officers learned that the victim had been walking in the area of North Madison Avenue and Maple Avenue when he was approached by two unidentified individuals who demanded money. When the victim refused, one of the suspects physically assaulted him and held  him down while the second suspect removed the victim’s wallet. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital for  treatment.  

The case was assigned to the department’s Detective Bureau for further investigation. Through investigative efforts, officers located and arrested  18-year-old Jose Sarceno-Medrano and 26-year-old Josset Barrera-Cazco,  both residents of the Town of Ramapo.  

Jose Sarceno-Medrano was arrested on March 4, 2026, and charged with  one count of Robbery in the Second Degree (Subsection 1), a Class C  Felony; one count of Robbery in the Second Degree (Subsection 2(a)), a  Class C Felony; and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Subsection 1), a  Class E Felony. Sarceno-Medrano was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Mellion. Bail was set at  $7,500 cash, $15,000 bond, or $25,000 partially secured bond. He was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.  

Josset Barrera-Cazco was arrested on March 5, 2026, and charged with one count of Robbery in the Second Degree (Subsection 1), a Class C Felony; one count of Robbery in the Second Degree (Subsection 2(a)), a Class C Felony; Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Subsection 1), a Class E Felony; and Assault in the Third Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. Barrera-Cazco was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Sweet. Bail was set at $7,500 cash, $15,000 bond, or  $50,000 partially secured bond. He was remanded to the Rockland County  Jail.  

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed  innocent until proven guilty.
