Young Nyack Director Hosts Film Screening

Over 60 people attended 13 year old Nyack resident Margot’s film premiere of Dolls & Monsters at Elmwood Playhouse. Following her premiere, the young director took a few minutes out of her day to chat with the RCT.

Please, introduce yourself and your town.

My name is Margot, I’m 13 years old and I live in Nyack, NY. Three important things about me are: I am homeschooled, I am vegan, and I love cats.

What was the inspiration for the film?

The film was inspired by real events. First, the doll that we used in the movie was really given to me and my friends by a neighbor, just like in the movie! I was also inspired by my life and experiences I’ve had with friendships changing.

How did it feel to have your film premiere in front of so many people?

It was super amazing to have so many people but also kind of scary.

What was the highlight of the night?

I think the best part was seeing everyone after the screening. I got lots of hugs and nice comments about the movie.

Any plans for future film-making or film festivals?

We are going to enter this film into some film festivals, so hopefully it will get accepted somewhere! I will definitely be making more movies, maybe even a sequel!

Dolls & Monsters has been accepted to the Nyack International Film Festival and will be playing on March 22nd and March 25th.
