Zitt Announces Candidacy for Piermont Trustee

Piermont attorney and community volunteer Robert C. Zitt has announced his candidacy for Village of Piermont Trustee.

Zitt, 34, who lives in Piermont with his wife, Valentina, and their two young sons, said his decision to run is rooted in a desire to continue to serve the community and help guide the Village’s future through responsible governance and thoughtful planning.

“I believe Piermont is a special place with a unique character worth protecting,” Zitt said. “Local government works best when residents are informed, involved, and confident that decisions are being made responsibly and transparently.”

Zitt brings both legal and public service experience to the race. He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as a prosecutor in the Special Victims Unit. Currently running his own law practice locally, Zitt practiced with Hudson Valley law firms including Feerick Nugent MacCartney and Keane & Beane, focusing on land use, municipal law, and commercial litigation. In that capacity, he has served as outside litigation counsel to local municipalities, representing Town and Village Boards, planning and zoning boards, and advised community organizations and nonprofit groups on a range of legal matters.

In addition to his legal work, Zitt serves as a volunteer firefighter with the Village of Piermont Fire Department, where he participates in emergency response and community service efforts.

Over the past several years, Zitt has also helped organize grassroots community efforts focused on encouraging greater civic engagement and advocacy in local government.

Zitt said his campaign will focus on responsible development, transparent governance, capital improvements, and long-term planning that protects Piermont’s infrastructure and quality of life. Zitt is also passionate about term-limits. “Piermont should also begin a serious conversation about reasonable term limits to ensure that local government remains responsive, accountable, and open to new leadership.”

“Piermont’s future should be shaped by thoughtful planning, open dialogue, and respect for the people who live and work here,” Zitt said. “I look forward to meeting residents throughout the Village, listening to their concerns, and building constructive relationships across political and community lines to advance solutions that benefit the entire Village – not just a select few.”

Zitt will be seeking one of two available seats in the upcoming Democratic primary.
