It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year.
The NCAA Tournament field of 68 has been selected and for the 2nd straight March, St. Johns is right in the heart of the action.
Rick Pitino’s Red Storm capped off their second straight Big East Tournament crown in addition to a second straight regular season title.
Life is good if you’re a St John’s fan!
I guess, until you saw the bracket on Selection Sunday.
St Johns was sent out West to San Diego and their reward for winning both the regular season and tournament crown was a 5 seed.
The committee punished St Johns for not having success out of conference, but a 5 seed was a rather harsh seeding.
It’s a tough road to the Final 4.
A potential round of 32 game with perennial power Kansas and all of their star power has a chance to be one of the games of the tournament.
Duke as the 1 seed awaits potentially in Washington DC which will be a monumental battle.
If you’re lucky enough to get through that, a potential date with either Michigan State or another battle with UCONN awaits.
The good news for Rick Pitino’s bunch is that they are playing their best basketball of the season.
The defense has been top notch and Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins have been dialed in.
If the play on Saturday night can be duplicated over the next two weeks, The Red Storm can have a whole lot of fun.
Tough road be dammed!
