Robbers Apprehended After Months Long Search

On January 31, 2026, a male victim reported to the Spring Valley Police  Department that he had been the victim of a robbery that occurred earlier  that morning. The victim informed officers that at approximately 1:45 a.m.,  he was assaulted and robbed at knifepoint by three unknown males in the  vicinity of 50 South Main Street. During the incident, two gold chains were  removed from the victim. The victim sustained injuries to his face and neck.  The case was subsequently assigned to the Spring Valley Police Department  Detective Bureau for further investigation.  

Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified three suspects in  connection with the incident: 32-year-old Dario Hernandez-Vasquez of  Spring Valley, 46-year-old Santiago T. Tzalam of Spring Valley, and 37- year-old Martin D. Campos-Veliz of the Bronx.  

Dario Hernandez-Vasquez was arrested on February 10, 2026, and charged  with Robbery in the First Degree (Subsection 3), a Class B Felony; Robbery  in the Second Degree (Subsection 1), a Class C Felony; and Robbery in the  

Second Degree (Subsection 2(a)), a Class C Felony. He was arraigned in the  Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Brimais Tenemille, where bail was set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $100,000  partially secured bond, and he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.  

Santiago T. Tzalam was arrested on March 24, 2026, and charged with  Robbery in the First Degree (Subsection 3), a Class B Felony; Robbery in  the Second Degree (Subsection 1), a Class C Felony; and Robbery in the  Second Degree (Subsection 2(a)), a Class C Felony. He was arraigned in the  Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Brimais Tenemille, where bail was set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $100,000  partially secured bond, and he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail. 

Martin D. Campos-Veliz was arrested on March 24, 2026, and charged with  Robbery in the First Degree (Subsection 3), a Class B Felony; Robbery in  the Second Degree (Subsection 1), a Class C Felony; Robbery in the Second  Degree (Subsection 2(a)), a Class C Felony; Criminal Possession of a  Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Subsection 2), a Class A Misdemeanor; and  Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Subsection 5), a  Class A Misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley  Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Brimais-Tenemille, where bail  was set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond,  and he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.  

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed  innocent until proven guilty.
