Ramapo Police Chief Earns National Recognition

CentralSquare Technologies, a provider of public sector software, recently announced the winners of its 2026 ENGAGE Awards at its annual ENGAGE usercommunity conference, held in Washington, D.C. The awards recognize public sector organizations and leaders for innovation, service, and meaningful impact on the communities they serve.

This year’s honorees included one hometown hero, Chief of Police Dan Hyman of the Ramapo Police Department. Chief Hyman was recognized for the Citizen Experience Award after helping an individual trapped on the second floor during a three-alarm house fire. Before fire crews had even arrived, Chief Hyman was able to guide the individual to safety.

“We’re proud to celebrate the heroes who protect, serve, and strengthen their communities across the country,” said Manolis Kotzabasakis, CEO of CentralSquare. “These organizations and individuals exemplify the dedication, innovation, and leadership that move the public sector forward and make a meaningful difference every day.”

More than 1,400 government and public safety leaders from across the United States attended the conference, designed to help public sector organizations reset and build momentum for the year ahead. This year’s event focused on practical strategies, including leveraging cloud-based benefits, workflow automation, responsible use of artificial intelligence, workforce and retention challenges, and hands-on product training, with an emphasis on real world solutions that improve operations, public safety response, and citizen experiences.

In recognition of the award winners, CentralSquare donated to the Travis Mills Foundation. Mills, a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and the foundation’s founder, delivered the conference’s keynote address, inspiring attendees with a message of resilience, purpose, and service.
