Ramapo Woman Hospitalized After Fire in Hillcrest

On April 6, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Town of Ramapo Police Department  responded to a structure fire in the Hillcrest section of the Town of Ramapo. 

Upon arrival, officers observed smoke billowing from the rear of the residence and began  coordinating the response with the Hillcrest Fire Department. The fire was successfully  extinguished. 

A 67-year-old female resident was evacuated from the home by the Hillcrest Fire  Department and transported to Westchester Medical Center, where she was admitted for  treatment of smoke inhalation. 

Additional family members were displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross  responded to the scene to provide assistance. 

The incident is currently under investigation by the Ramapo Police Department Detective  Division and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation  (BCI).

Smoke detectors save lives. Ensure all smoke detectors and carbon dioxide detecors are in working order and stop a tragedy before it happens.
