Kyle John Boyce Memorial Scholarship Awarded at Orangetown Town Hall

Tuesday’s meeting of the Orangetown town board started off with a moment of silence for the victims of the Texas flooding tragedy. This catastrophic event has hung heavy on American hearts since July 4th with over 100 dead and 160 missing. More than 30 of those lost were children.

Following the moment of silence was an announcement of a town meeting to be held concerning the redevelopment of the Blue Hill Plaza. This meeting will take place July 22nd at 7:00 p.m.

Senator Weber’s Five Towns of Rockland Blood Drive will be back on July 28th for its second annual Blood Drive Challenge. The blood drives will take place at the five town halls across the county and each donor will receive not only the satisfaction of helping their fellow man, but will walk out with a Fandango move ticket from the American Red Cross. Clarkstown was crowned the winner in Rockland last year – which town will snag the 2025 crown?

Kimberly Allen, the mother of the late Kyle John Boyce, presented a check to the Parks & Recreation Superintendent Aric Gorton for one child to attend the Town of Orangetown Day Camp. Allen spoke of her son Kyle and the joy he experienced while at camp both as a camper and a counselor. “It gives us great pride and fills our heart with love to pay it forward in Kyle’s memory,” said Allen. Allen and Gorton shared a hug as she presented him with the scholarship that will ensure a child’s summer is filled with fun.

The town board will hold a public hearing on September 9th, 2025 at 7:05 p.m. to discuss the addition of stop signs at multiple intersections in Orangeburg and Blauvelt.
