To the Editor,
In my work, I see many hard-working families consistently struggling, and sometimes failing, to meet life’s basic necessities, shelter, health care, child care, and food. Here in Rockland County, an average family is paying 50% or more of their income on rent. Additionally, opportunities for people to improve their lives by advancing their careers are far too limited. This is simply unacceptable in a country as powerful as ours.Â
Beth Davidson has fought to change that. As a legislator and public servant, Beth has lowered housing costs, championed tax relief while increasing services that improve the lives of all families in the Hudson Valley. As a Rockland County mom, she empathizes with the challenges that families face every day. She has proven that she can work with across the aisle to achieve these goals that serve all families.
While Beth has been fighting for all families, Mike Lawler has been fighting for his political party.Â
Beth Davidson has proposed funding to increase the availability and quality of child care services, which would also expand people’s ability to work. While Beth was doing that, Mike Lawler followed his party by voting against legislation that would increase employees’ wages when their children received company-sponsored child care.
Thank you.

To the Editor,
I know of a military vet who can’t feed his family anymore. He served in Jordan and Afghanistan, was recently discharged, and is now on a fixed income. Since the Iran War began, for dinner he and his wife either finish their 3 kids leftovers, or if there are no leftovers, they don’t eat dinner that evening.
Skyrocketing gas prices combined with higher utility bills and soaring food costs account for this distressing situation. Hopefully, he will continue to be able to pay his mortgage.
Mike Lawler supports this president and his war of choice despite the war’s increasing the economic hardships thousands of families in our district are facing.Â
I’m not surprised. Congressman Lawler by voting for the One Big Beautiful Bill(which he now refers to as the Working Families Tax Cut Act because it’s so unpopular), is harming veterans by capping Medicaid, reducing SNAP food assistance, and introducing work requirements for benefits. It potentially threatens health coverage nationwide for over 260,000 veterans and limits access to care for those relying on community health services, which is needed now more than ever.
Whether through legislation to benefit the wealthy or by necessity to pay for his and Trump’s war of choice, Mike Lawler is ignoring his constituents’ needs. We must vote him out and elect someone who will fight to lower our costs and not raise them.
Thank you for your consideration.
