Attempted Murder at Barber Shop

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 17, 2026, the Ramapo Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at Veloz Barbershop, located at 279 North Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers located a 59-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was treated at the scene by Rockland Paramedics and Spring Hill Ambulance and was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

An extensive canvass was conducted, and the suspect, who fled the scene in a vehicle, was subsequently located by a Rockland County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit in the area of 150 West Eckerson Road. Ramapo Police officers responded and took the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Stanley Etienne of Ramapo, into custody.

The Spring Valley Police Department and the New York State Police assisted at the scene.

Ramapo Police detectives and patrol officers continued the investigation overnight. As a result, the vehicle used by the suspect and the firearm involved in the incident were both recovered at a separate location. Members of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted with scene processing.

Stanley Etienne has been charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Criminal Use of a Firearm.

He was arraigned before Judge Silva, who set bail at $750,000 cash, $900,000 bond, or $1,000,000 partially secured bond. The defendant was remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending a future court appearance.

This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
