A Night for Change 2026 brought together community leaders, advocates, and supporters on Saturday, May 2, for an inspiring evening centered on gratitude, purpose, and collective impact in support of the vital work of the Center for Safety and Change and its mission to provide comprehensive support and advocacy for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and other forms of abuse. Through a continuum of services—including emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and community outreach—the Center empowers survivors, promotes healing, and helps individuals build safe, stable, and independent lives.
Held at the Hilton Pearl River, the event celebrated the shared commitment to ensuring safety, dignity, and stability for all members of the community.
The evening featured special recognition of two distinguished honorees whose leadership and service have made a lasting difference:
• Linie Rand, Outgoing Board Chair — Honored for six years of visionary and compassionate leadership that has strengthened the Center’s mission and positioned it for a sustainable future.
• Joe Rand, Mayor of Nyack — Recognized for his longstanding dedication to community leadership, civic responsibility, and corporate philanthropy.
Attended by elected officials, nonprofit partners, advocates, and supporters, the event highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing a more equitable and supportive community. Through remarks, tributes, and shared stories, the program underscored the power of collective action in creating meaningful change.
“A Night for Change is a celebration of what is possible when individuals come together with a shared purpose,” said event organizers. “This evening not only honors exceptional leadership but also reinforces our commitment to building a community rooted in hope, opportunity, and compassion.”
